About the Teacher
I come from the beautiful smog-free hills of Palos Verdes Peninsula in Southern California. Early on I established a love of history through family vacations to historic American sites and have expanded my love of history and culture with annual adventures overseas. After receiving a BA in history, I tried working at a "real job" selling life insurance and annuities but soon found it was not my true calling. I returned to school to get my teaching credential and Masters in Education from UCLA. For the past 26 years I have been teaching high school US History, World History, Economics, Government, Psychology and Geography in both the East Bay (James Logan High School) and North Bay (Tamalpais High School). I have taught at Dominican University and University of San Francisco, earned my National Board certification in 2001, and served on the Board of the Buck Institute for Education, the leading organization for project-based learning. Outside the classroom I love traveling, hiking, cooking, reading history, rooting for Bay Area sports, and being Marin's biggest Bruce Springsteen fan.
